New puch moped
While waiting for the result, I have contacted RBO, and they are sending me oversize hardened crankpins, new rollers and cages for the big end bearing as well as crankpins and new rollers for the side bearings. We are now having the hardening of the rollers tested. The mechanic has since disassembled all three crankshafts (the third crankshaft hasn’t been used yet), and a stroke with a file edge left behind a mark on the roller. But after only 70 km, the second crankshaft went as well – exactly the same problem. The oil level in the tank by the way dropped while riding, and I also used a 1:25 fuel mixture.Īfter meticulously cleaning both the crank case and the second crankshaft with brake cleaner, we reassembled the engine.

Since the crank case was wet but full of fine abrasion, we suspected residue from vapour blasting to be the cause. We found that the big end bearing had been completely destroyed. After handing over the bike to Adrian, the engine seized on its very first ride while idling. In September, I fitted one of the crankshafts into the black SG, and there were no issues during the first 100 km of test drives. This included oversize rollers for the big end and of course also the bearings for the side rod. I'm in Suffolk, not far from Bury St.E and Suffolk is a well supported section of the EACC with lots of runs throughout the year, check it out, and PM me if you'd like ?.Problems with the refurbished SG crankshaftsĪt the beginning of 2021, I had three SG crankshafts overhauled. However I think there's a need for fresh blood and nutty peds to show em the light!!!

It seems like what a proper enthusiasts club should be like, unlike the toffee nosed bunch that a lot of clubs here have turned into like the VMCC and the VSCC etc.ĭue to covid I haven't made it to any runs so I can't say they are all a great bunch but the ones I've met are nice, mad as a box of frogs and love mopeds. Subs are £8 a year, they organise runs (various branches across the uk) and you get 6 magazines a year that look like they've been printed on someone's home printer and stapled together. The founding fathers splintered off and reformed the EACC which I joined when I first started my project, mostly because I needed a dating cert for getting an age related plate.mostly. Its all a bit long winded, some guys set up the EACC (East anglian cyclemotor club ) in the 80's I think, that turned into the NACC (National blah) but it all ended in a bun fight over money. Hi Kris, on the UK club scene, clubs yes, cool clubs.errrr. > I'm based near Cambridge if anyone is local > the rallies look like they are mainly Vespa events! > there are any cool clubs or moped rallies that I can aim for but most of > Nice to see so many UK users on here too, I've been searching to see if > the moment I'm basically picking stuff that looks cool!! > recommendation on 70cc kits, exhaust etc will be much appreciated as at > all running first and at least have a poodle about on it.but any > Already picked an exhaust, 70cc kit, carb etc. > correct term) and pedal so I'll probably have a tinker with it over the > when I pull the starter lever in (or decompression lever? not sure the > So yeah, I need to get mine running first, currently feels a bit rough > into the workshop last night on her own and immediately said how > that is a bit heavy.is super heavy!! but I'd rather get it all running first and at least have a poodle about on it.but any recommendation on 70cc kits, exhaust etc will be much appreciated as at the moment I'm basically picking stuff that looks cool!! So yeah, I need to get mine running first, currently feels a bit rough when I pull the starter lever in (or decompression lever? not sure the correct term) and pedal so I'll probably have a tinker with it over the weekend.Īlready picked an exhaust, 70cc kit, carb etc. It was still in good shape so I didnt want to do anything to crazy with the clutch. In Part 3, I will be showing work on the transmission: 1) The clutch. She currently rides a 125t Honda, really really nice bike but it's weirdly heavy and she has some nasty muscle and joint issues so anything that is a bit heavy.is super heavy!! She had to move the Puch back into the workshop last night on her own and immediately said how amazingly light it is. Just Another Puch E50 Dio Polini (Part 3: Transmission Work) In Part 1 and Part 2 I did the port work on the top and bottom ends. Thank you so much guys!! Already shopping for another moped for my girlfriend!!! This is so addictive!!
